ChemoTox Report™ – Breast Cancer is a pharmacogenomic screening designed to identify genetic factors that may affect how your body processes selected breast cancer medications. The results provide your oncology team with additional information that may help support safer, more personalized treatment decisions.
Testing can be completed before chemotherapy begins or during treatment. Understanding your genetic profile may help your healthcare provider identify potential medication toxicity risks and determine whether additional precautions, monitoring, dose considerations, or treatment adjustments may be appropriate.
Why Your Genetics Matter
Your body relies on specific enzymes to metabolize and clear medications. Genetic variations can reduce the activity of some of these enzymes, causing certain medications to remain in the body longer or reach higher concentrations than expected.
One important example involves fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy medications such as capecitabine and 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU). The DPYD gene helps determine the activity of the DPD enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down most fluorouracil in the body. Certain DPYD genetic variants can significantly reduce DPD activity and increase the risk of serious or potentially life-threatening toxicity.
Identifying clinically relevant genetic variations before treatment gives your oncology team additional information that can be considered alongside your diagnosis, treatment plan, medical history, laboratory results, and other clinical factors.

If you have already started treatment, genetic information may still provide useful information about how your body processes certain medications and can be reviewed by your healthcare provider during your treatment journey.

ChemoTox Report™ begins with a simple, non-invasive DNA sample that can be collected at home. Your sample is then sent to the laboratory for genetic analysis.
Once the analysis is complete, your results are interpreted and presented in a professional clinical report designed to be reviewed with your healthcare provider.
